Midsummer's Eve
In norther'n Europe we celebrate Midsummer's Eve on June 23rd. It's the feast of st. John the baptist and also the day in the year with the longest day and shortest night. I know they celebrate it in Spain as well, St. Juan, do they celebrate in your country?
The normal way to celebrate is to go out and have a barbeque or a bonfire. It's a pretty calm celebration as it's not a holliday. So that's what we did! I tried to rattle up a bunch of my friends, but the only one who didn't have plans was Meagan. Derek came to, and he brought his friend Phillip. I was nervous about Phillip coming, as the last time I saw him he wasn't very pleasant.I haven't told you about that evening, but I'll get a post in tomorrow! But, I had no need to worry. Phillip was nice and sweet, and we had a nice eventing in a very crowded park.
In Norway we have no garanty for a great summer. When it's hot and sunny it is the best place on earth, but it often rains or has a cold temprature. But the sun came yesterday and it looks like it's here to stay. And since we live in a country where the weather varies so much, all norwegian go out when the sun is shining. It's a cultural thing, it's almost concidered a mortal sin to be inside if the weather is nice. And it being on of the first sunny days in weeks, it's was even more crowded then usal.
Sorry for the bad lighting in the photos, but with the sun and all the smoke from all the barbeques it wasn't to easy. And I didn't want to snap to many, looked like a crazy person photographing everyone else!
